CRRC has installed the prototype of its 20MW floating offshore wind turbine, named Qihang, at the Dongying wind power testing and certification innovation base in Shandong Province, China. The Qihang turbine features a rotor diameter of 260 metres and a hub height of 151 metres.
Following testing and certification, the company plans to deploy the prototype offshore for grid-connected power generation. The Qihang turbine was manufactured in Sheyang, Jiangsu Province, in October 2024 and transported to Dongying Guangli Port in mid-December before being moved to the installation site.
