Nordex has installed its first N175/6.X turbine on a concrete-steel hybrid tower at Santow, Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania, Germany. The tower, with a hub height of 179 metres, was designed by Nordex and includes a 119-metre-high concrete base developed from its concrete tower technology used for over 15 years.
The turbine at Santow will undergo testing in the coming months to assess its design. The installation also served to review processes such as manufacturing, transport, pre-assembly, and on-site installation. Nordex offers the N175/6.X turbine with several tower options, including tubular steel towers at 112 and 142 metres and hybrid towers at 179 metres. In the future, hybrid towers with hub heights of up to 199 metres will also be available.
