Dörken MKS-Systeme has developed a new coating system certified by Germanischer Lloyd for use in wind energy plants.
The coatings, designated basecoat Delta-Tone and topcoat Delta-Seal are used for fasteners such as bolts used for securing rotor blades. Germanischer Lloyd has now granted the system structure of basecoat Delta-Tone and topcoat Delta-Seal certification for use on standard bolts for wind energy plants in the onshore and offshore applications. Certification by Germanischer Lloyd was granted after a variety of tests were conducted. The Delta-Tone basecoat offers active cathodic protection. Application of the coating is done via spin coating or spraying for larger fasteners.
