MWT XXL stability testNooteboom has expanded its trailer range with the new Mega Windmill Trailer XXL (MWT-XXL), specifically designed for transporting wind turbine tower segments. The MWT-XXL accommodates tower sections with inner diameters ranging from approximately 2850mm to 6100mm, without requiring modifications to the mounting frame. This flexibility is achieved through a double, hydraulically height-adjustable A-frame and a three-point load clamping system.

Key features of the MWT-XXL include a load capacity of approximately 100 tonnes and an empty height under 4 metres. Stability testing was conducted at the RDW test track in Lelystad, Netherlands, comparing road behaviour between air suspension and hydraulic suspension. The tests demonstrated that Nooteboom's 2.84-metre wide self-steered dolly with air suspension offers stability comparable to hydraulic suspension with pendulum axles. Additionally, air suspension provides an early visible warning when the vehicle begins to lean, allowing drivers to reduce speed and avoid potential hazards.

The MWT-XXL comes equipped with a 2.84-metre wide self-steered dolly as standard. For smaller diameters, a 2.55-metre wide dolly option is available, ensuring compliance with legal width limits and reducing road space usage when empty.
