Nooteboom Trailers has expanded its wind transport programme with the four-times extendable Super Wing Carrier XL (SWC-XL), designed for transporting the latest wind turbine rotor blades exceeding 85 metres in length. The SWC-XL (type SWC-91-24V(QP)) offers increased length and payload capacity while maintaining stability.
The trailer incorporates new technologies, including the “Wing Shaped Beam,” which keeps the transport height behind the gooseneck—where the rotor blade root is loaded—extra low. The front features a 2-axle Jeep dolly for an 8x4 truck, while the rear has four pendulum axle lines. The loading floor extends in multiple stages to over 75 metres, and adjustable filling plates allow the trailer’s curve to match the blade’s shape, optimising ground clearance and transport height.
The prototype has been tested by LASO Transportes in Portugal, with the company set to take delivery of a second unit in April following successful trial transports.
