TÜV SÜD has been commissioned by REpower Systems SE to carry out type certification of its new offshore turbine REpower 6.2M152.
The latest wind turbine, the REpower 6.2M152, is an advanced version of the REpower 6.2M126. The wind turbine, with a rated power of 6.15MW and rotor diameter of 152 metres, will be installed offshore with hub heights of between 95 and 110 metres. The prototype, with a hub height of 124 metres, will soon be installed at a test site just off the coast of Northern Germany. For this prototype, the manufacturer applied not only for type certification, but also for type approval in accordance with the 2012 DIBt standard that is based on the German construction law. Completion of the type certification procedure, the subsequent launch on the market and the start of mass production are scheduled for 2015.
