Acciona Energy has been awarded contracts for the engineering, construction and start-up of two wind farms in Mexico and the supply of wind turbines totalling 252MW, plus the operation and maintenance of the farms for 20 years.
The contracts have been signed with a company formed by Fisterra Energy, CEMEX and private investors. The investment associated with these projects is around US$ 650 million. The construction of the wind farms (Ventika and Ventika II) will begin in the second trimester of this year and commercial operation is expected by the 2nd quarter of 2016. The wind farms are located in the municipality of General Bravo in the state of Nuevo León. They will consist of 84 3MW AW 116/3000 MW wind turbines with a rotor diameter of 116 metres and mounted on 120 metres concrete towers.
