Starting on 2 October, Amprion will survey the seabed in the Wadden Sea between the Germany coast and the island Norderney, as well as in the nearshore area in front of the island.
These surveys aim to assess the soil properties for the offshore grid connection system DolWin4 and to check the cable route for unexploded ordnance (UXO). The work is being carried out by Sulmara on behalf of cable supplier Prysmian. Two ships will be used: the manned Manor Brunel in the nearshore area and an autonomous, battery-powered vessel in Riffgat. An ultralight drone will survey Norderney. The surveys aim to minimise ecological impact and will start from Norderney harbour. Cable laying in the Wadden Sea and nearshore area will begin in summer 2025.
