Amprion Offshore GmbH is involved in the planning of the two offshore grid connection systems, LanWin1 and LanWin3. In preparation for the onshore part of the projects, Amprion has developed an initial route corridor network in coordination with the authorities.
The two planned offshore grid connection systems will connect wind farms in the North Sea with the onshore transmission network. They are mostly installed parallel to one another on both land and sea. The cables initially run 160 and 170 kilometers at sea from the North Sea wind farms. The cables cross under the island of Norderney and reach the coast in the Hilgenriedersiel area. On land, around 220 and 230 kilometers of underground cables will be laid. In order to get to their respective network connection points in Wehrendorf (LanWin1) and Westerkappeln (LanWin3), the projects will separate on the last part of the route. Both grid connections can each transmit an output of 2GW and are scheduled to go into operation in 2031 and 2033. The company is expected to hold information events in the first half of 2022 to provide information on the current planning status of the projects.
