Clipper Windpower has announced that it has signed a long-term agreement with Eléctrica del Valle de Mexico, a subsidiary of EDF Energies Nouvelles (EDF EN) for the supply of Liberty 2.5MW wind turbines for EDF EN wind energy projects in Mexico over coming years.

The contract for the first 67.5MW will supply clean, renewable power to establishments owned by subsidiaries of Wal-Mart de Mexico, S.A.B. de C.V. beginning in 2009. The first 27 Liberty wind turbines will be installed in a wind energy project currently under development by EDF EN which is slated for completion in the summer of 2009.? Sited in La Ventosa, within the Istmo region in the State of Oaxaca, one of Mexico's windiest areas, the project will be the first in Mexico to utilise multi-megawatt wind turbines.
