Clipper Windpower has announced that it has signed a
long-term agreement with Eléctrica del Valle de Mexico, a subsidiary of EDF
Energies Nouvelles (EDF EN) for the supply of Liberty 2.5MW wind turbines for
EDF EN wind energy projects in Mexico over coming years.
The contract for
the first 67.5MW will supply clean, renewable power to establishments owned by
subsidiaries of Wal-Mart de Mexico, S.A.B. de C.V. beginning in 2009. The first
27 Liberty wind turbines will be installed in a wind energy project currently
under development by EDF EN which is slated for completion in the summer of
2009.? Sited in La Ventosa, within the Istmo region in the State of
Oaxaca, one of Mexico's windiest areas, the project will be the first in Mexico
to utilise multi-megawatt wind turbines.
