Coli Group completes transformer transport project for Baltica 2Coli Group has completed a six-month transport project for GE Vernova, moving 14 large power transformers from its factory in Türkiye to a job site in Poland supporting the Baltica 2 offshore wind farm. The cargo was transported across three voyages on three separately chartered vessels, marking the second collaboration between Coli Group and GE Vernova’s team in Poland.

The transformers were collected at GE Vernova’s factory and loaded at Safiport in Derince, Türkiye. Ten units, weighing between 110 and 170 tonnes, were offloaded at the port of Gdynia and transported by road to the job site. The remaining four transformers, each weighing 361 tonnes, were transported by barge to Władysławowo, where a roll-on/roll-off operation was carried out. A temporary storage area was also established at Władysławowo while the job site was being prepared to receive the transformers.

Several bridges along the route could not carry the weight of the cargo, requiring a temporary flyover structure to be installed over the existing infrastructure. The transport operation also required coordination with several local Polish authorities and was carried out during winter, with temperatures falling to -15°C.

Baltica 2 is a 1.5 GW offshore wind farm being developed by PGE Group and Ørsted in the Polish Baltic Sea. The project will comprise 107 wind turbines and is scheduled for commissioning in 2027.
