Vestas has installed the final wind turbine at TagEnergy's Golden Plains Wind Farm in Victoria, Australia, marking the completion of turbine installation at the country's largest wind farm. Located about 100 kilometres west of Melbourne, between the rural towns of Rokewood, Skipton and Smythesdale, the project comprises 215 Vestas V162-6.2 MW wind turbines.
The wind farm is currently generating around 1.1 GW and will have a total installed capacity of 1.33 GW once fully commissioned. Golden Plains is being developed in two phases and is expected to produce enough renewable electricity to supply more than 750,000 homes. The project also includes a 300MW battery energy storage system to support grid stability and improve the integration of renewable energy.
