Fugro has been awarded a contract to conduct geotechnical surveys for the NordSee Energies 1 offshore wind project, which is being developed by TotalEnergies at the N-12.1 site in the North Sea. The project has a planned capacity of 2 GW. Fieldwork is already underway, with Fugro deploying five vessels to undertake survey activities around 170 kilometres off the German coast.
The programme covers an area of approximately 200 square kilometres and includes investigations at around 140 locations, reaching depths of up to 50 metres below the seabed. Following completion of offshore activities, laboratory testing will be carried out at Fugro facilities in Wallingford in the United Kingdom and Louvain in Belgium.
TotalEnergies secured offshore wind concessions from the German Federal Network Agency in 2023, 2024 and 2025 for the development of four wind farms in the North Sea and Baltic Sea. In addition, the company is involved in two offshore wind projects in partnership with RWE, bringing its awarded offshore wind pipeline in Germany to a total of 7.5 GW.
