GE Vernova and Amazon Web Services (AWS) have signed a strategic framework agreement to support AWS’s data centre expansion and collaborate on global energy challenges, including grid security, reliability, and decarbonisation of power systems.

Under this agreement, GE Vernova will provide AWS with solutions to electrify and decarbonise data centres in North America, Europe, and Asia, including:

Electrification Systems: GE Vernova will continue supplying AWS with turnkey substation solutions to connect data centres to the grid, including electrical equipment expansion, project management, and construction support. Engineering teams from both companies will collaborate on optimising substation design and delivery.

Renewables: GE Vernova will work with AWS to support the commercialisation of onshore wind projects.

Power Generation and Innovation: GE Vernova will explore further opportunities to supply AWS with power generation equipment and services while collaborating with its Advanced Research, Consulting Services, and Financial Services divisions to drive energy transition innovation, project development, and financing.

In return, AWS will provide GE Vernova with cloud services to enhance its digital transformation, including the use of generative artificial intelligence.

The financial details of the agreement have not been disclosed.
