Following submission on 30th July 2013, the Planning Inspectorate has notified SMart Wind that the application for Hornsea Project One offshore wind farm has been formally accepted for examination.
Project One, the first offshore wind farm in the Round 3 Hornsea Zone, covers 407 square kilometres located 103 kilometres off the Yorkshire coast with associated electrical transmission infrastructure to a grid connection point at North Killingholme in North Lincolnshire. Project One is owned by SMart Wind, a joint venture between Mainstream Renewable Power and Siemens Project Venture as well as DONG Energy. When complete, it will deliver up to 1.2GW of capacity. A recommendation is expected by PINS, and decision by the Secretary of State for Energy, by the end of 2014. Subject to any subsequent Final Investment Decision, the project is then expected to progress into the construction phase.
