Amazon and Iberdrola have added 476MW of renewable energy power purchase agreements (PPAs) to their global partnership, expanding their collaboration to five countries. The new agreements include Amazon’s first PPA in Portugal, securing 219MW from the Tâmega Wind Complex, which is scheduled to begin construction in early 2025.
In Spain, the partnership has grown with two utility-scale PPAs, adding a total of 257MW of wind and solar capacity. Amazon will purchase 45MW from the Valdemoro wind farm in Burgos and 212MW from the Ciudad Rodrigo solar PV plant in Salamanca, Western Spain. Together, these projects will generate approximately 1,093GWh of electricity annually.
Across all signed PPAs, Amazon has now contracted more than 66,000GWh of renewable energy from Iberdrola worldwide.
