ABO Energy has signed an agreement to sell the majority of the project pipeline held by its Finnish subsidiary, ABO Energy Suomi, to Fortum, an energy company based in Finland. The pipeline includes projects at various stages of development, totalling approximately 4.4 GW.
The initial payment at closing will be around €42.2 million on a debt- and cash-free basis. Completion of the transaction is expected in the fourth quarter of 2025. Additional payments may be made in the coming years, depending on whether individual projects reach final investment decisions. These earn-out payments are expected to reach a mid-range double-digit million euro amount, although this will depend on project progress. ABO Energy will not take part in further development of the transferred projects and will have no influence on whether future payments are realised.
Following the transaction, ABO Energy’s market share in Finland will decline. The company intends to refocus its efforts on project development in other European markets, including Germany, France and Spain.
