The Japanese Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry (METI) and the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure, Transport and Tourism (MLIT) have selected a consortium led by Toda Corporation to develop a 16.8MW floating offshore wind farm off the coast of Nagasaki, Japan.
The Goto City Offshore Wind Power Generation consortium also consists of Eneos Corporation, Osaka Gas Company, Kansai Electric Power Corporation, Inpex Company and Chubu Electric Power Corporation and was the only bidder. The project will consist of eight 2.1MW turbines to be built in a 2.7 square kilometres area off Goto City, south-eastern Japan.
