Mariah Power, manufacturer of the Windspire, a residential and commercial wind power appliance, has announced it will install 42 Windspires at Quinnipiac University on its York Hill campus in Hamden, Connecticut in mid-2009.
The Windspires will generate approximately 84,000 kilowatt-hours of
energy per year and are part of a larger green campus initiative, which
also includes solar panels and eco-friendly construction practices. The
Windspire is a 30-foot-tall, propeller-free, vertical-axis wind turbine
designed for harnessing wind power in urban, suburban and rural
locations.
