EDF in partnership with Alstom has won the majority of France's first offshore wind farm tender.
EDF won three of the tenders for offshore wind sites. The fourth tender was won by Iberdrola in partnership Areva. Together the companies will build 2,000MW with an investment of € 7 billion. GDF Suez and Siemens were unsuccessful in a bid to build an offshore wind farm at a fifth site. It is expected that this site will be included in a second tender package which is expected in the second half of 2012.
