RWE completes 17.1 MW expansion of Wiedenfelder Höhe wind farm in Germany Credit RWERWE has completed the expansion of its Wiedenfelder Höhe wind farm in Bergheim, located in Germany's Rhenish lignite mining region. Three new 5.7 MW wind turbines have entered operation on the recultivated spoil tip of the former Fortuna-Garsdorf open-cast mine, adding 17.1 MW of generation capacity to the site.

The existing wind farm, commissioned in 2017, has an installed capacity of 13.2 MW. Following the expansion, the Wiedenfelder Höhe wind farm now comprises seven turbines with a total installed capacity of 30.3 MW.
