Saipem and Divento have signed a collaboration agreement to apply Saipem’s STAR 1 floating wind technology to the 7 Seas Med project in Sicily and the Ichnusa Wind Power project in Sardinia. The partnership aims to support these projects in upcoming auctions under the Fer2 Decree.
The 7 Seas Med floating wind project, located over 35km from the Sicilian coast, will have a capacity of 252MW and an estimated annual generation of 800GWh.
Ichnusa Wind Power, to be developed by the namesake company, is located about 40km off the south-western coast of Sardinia. It will have a capacity of 504MW and is expected to generate 1.6TWh of renewable energy annually.
Both projects are in the development phase, awaiting the finalisation of Italy’s regulatory framework for the first auctions dedicated to innovative renewable technologies, including floating offshore wind.
Divento is a partnership between Copenhagen Infrastructure Partners (CIP) through its Copenhagen Infrastructure V fund, GreenIT (a joint venture between Plenitude, a subsidiary of Eni, and CDP Equity of CDP Group), 7 Seas Wind Power, and NiceTechnology.
