The first wind turbines of the 170MW Sarco Wind Farm, owned by Aela Energía, started operations in the Municipality of Freirina, Atacama Region, Chile. The energy generated by this wind farm will be transported to the Maitencillo substation, where it will be feeded into the National Electrical System (SEN).
Aela Energía is owned by a joint venture between Actis (60%) and Mainstream Renewable Power (40%). Together with the Sarco Wind Farm, Aela Energía is completing the construction of the Aurora Wind Farm in the Llanquihue Municipality, with a 129MW capacity, which is already feeding energy into the SEN.
