ScottishPower, through its parent Iberdrola, has secured financing for the Eastern Green Link 4 subsea power transmission project in the United Kingdom. Eastern Green Link 4 is a 2 GW high voltage direct current subsea power link designed to transport electricity from Scotland to England, helping to reduce network constraint costs by moving power from generation areas to centres of demand.
The funding amounts to £600 million and has been provided by the National Wealth Fund. The 530 kilometre cable will run between Fife and Norfolk and is expected to transmit enough electricity to supply the equivalent of around 1.5 million UK homes.
