Shell has proposed building six offshore wind projects with a combined capacity of 17GW off the coast of Brazil. The company has already applied for permits with the Brazilian Institute of Environment and Renewable Natural Resources.
Shell plans to build the projects off the coasts of the Brazilian states of Piaui, Ceara, Rio Grande do Norte, Espirito Santo, Rio de Janeiro and Rio Grande do Sul. The environmental studies for the proposed projects are expected to begin later in 2022.
