Siemens Energy has received an order from Vattenfall for a
wind farm in northern Jutland in Denmark.
Siemens will supply 13 wind turbines,
each with a capacity of 2,3MW and a rotor diameter of 93 meters. The Siemens
wind turbines will be mounted on 80-meter-tall towers and will replace 77 older
turbines. The number of wind turbines will be reduced by a factor of six. The
wind farm is scheduled to start operation by late 2009. This is the first major
project within the Danish government's repowering program. Within the next few
years, about 800 older wind turbines are to be replaced with fewer but more
powerful ones.
