SSE’s Castel Favorito and Masseria la Cattiva wind farm in Puglia, southern Italy, is now operational and exporting renewable electricity to the local grid. The 17.3 MW project is SSE’s first operational wind farm in Italy.
The wind farm will supply electricity under a long-term corporate power purchase agreement signed with Microsoft in 2024, providing a route to market for the electricity generated. Construction of the five-turbine wind farm began in early 2025. The project supported around 70 construction jobs at the peak of activity, contributing to the local economy and supply chain in Puglia.
