SgurrEnergy has provided technical advisory services on an offshore wind farm in the North Sea, off the coast of Belgium, for a confidential client.
The company worked closely with the client to review the certification timeline for the selected wind turbine, which will not have full IEC certification by the client’s expected financial close date. Although a final wind turbine supplier has not yet been selected, the supplier has been kept in the bidding process after SgurrEnergy’s certification timeline review. The supplier was found to have an achievable certification timeline which included a strong contractual offering. It also had experience on a previous project which had achieved financial close prior to type certification being completed. The wind farm is expected to have a capacity of around 300MW, depending on what wind turbine is chosen, and financial close is expected in December 2014.
