The 16 MW floating offshore wind turbine Three Gorges Pilot has been installed offshore China. The project has been developed by China Three Gorges Corporation as part of its floating wind demonstration programme. The turbine is located in deep waters off Yangjiang, in Guangdong Province, in the South China Sea.

 

The system comprises a 16 MW turbine, a semi-submersible floating platform and a mooring system. The turbine has a rotor diameter of 252 metres. It is expected to generate approximately 44.65 million kWh annually.
