In early September Vattenfall started operation of its Kriegers Flak wind farm in the Baltic Sea off the Danish coast. On behalf of Vattenfall, TÜV SÜD has supported the project since 2018 and has now completed certification of the project.
TÜV SÜD’s contract covered certification of the design of the foundation structure as well as surveillance and certification throughout the manufacturing, transport, installation and commissioning phases in accordance with BEK 73 (Executive Order from the Danish Ministry for Climate, Energy and Buildings, No. 73). Within the scope of certification, offshore wind energy experts examined the design of the wind turbines’ monopile foundations and their connections to the towers by means of a transition piece. The offshore wind farm of Kriegers Flak is located in the Baltic Sea, 15 to 40 kilometres off the Danish coast. It comprises 72 8MW Siemens Gamesa wind turbine generators adding up to a total installed capacity of 605MW.
