Vattenfall has inaugurated the Bruzaholm onshore wind farm in southern Sweden. The company has signed a long-term power purchase agreement with AB Volvo, with approximately 50 per cent of the electricity production from Bruzaholm allocated to the agreement.
Bruzaholm wind farm is located in Eksjö municipality and construction began in summer 2023. The project has an installed capacity of 139 MW and expected annual electricity production of 460 GWh.
In connection with the wind farm, Vattenfall has also built a battery energy storage system to help stabilise the electricity grid and support more flexible electricity use.
The wind farm consists of 21 Siemens Gamesa wind turbines, each rated at 6.6 MW and with a total height of 240 metres. The battery storage system includes 60 battery modules supplied by Fluence, with a total output of 38 MW and storage capacity of 38 MWh.
