BGB has announced the appointment of Dr Ben Murphy as head of product development. In his new role, Ben will lead the advancement of the company’s Fibre Optic Rotary Joint (FORJ) product range and oversee the product roadmap.
Ben first joined BGB in 2018 as a research and development engineer, specialising in FORJ technology. This device enables high-speed data transfer of optical signals for applications including wind turbines, cable reels, manufacturing equipment, and drones. Returning to the firm, he brings experience across the automotive, yellow goods, and agri-tech sectors, as well as in academic and commercial research.
In his expanded role, Ben aims to address future market challenges facing BGB’s customers and enhance the company’s technological capabilities to deliver industrial solutions for sectors such as energy, construction, utilities, and transport.
Founded in 1976, the Grantham-based company employs 100 people across the UK and the United States, collaborating with industry leaders including Siemens and Vestas.
