Lindø Offshore Renewables Center has inaugurated a new main bearing test facility capable of testing wind turbine bearings for capacities of up to 25 MW.
R&D Test Systems was responsible for the design, engineering and delivery of the complete facility, including the mechanical and structural design of the test bench, load application systems, control and measurement architecture, as well as civil works, installation and commissioning. Schaeffler contributed application knowledge and defined testing requirements based on bearing design and operational experience.
The facility enables full-scale testing of main bearings under realistic, multi-axial load conditions, supporting improved understanding of bearing behaviour. It is intended to reduce technical risk in turbine and component development and to support faster validation of next-generation designs.
