The first Russian plant for manufacturing composite wind turbine blades has begun operations at Rusatom Vetrolopasti JSC in Ulyanovsk, part of Rosatom’s Composite division. The facility produces wind turbine blades that are 51 metres long and weigh 8.5 tons.
The project was initiated with financial backing from the Industrial Development Fund. Once the plant reaches its designed capacity, it will be capable of producing up to 450 blades annually, allowing the assembly of up to 150 turbines each year. The blades produced at the Ulyanovsk plant will primarily serve the Novolakskaya Wind Power Plant, the largest wind farm in Russia, currently under construction in the Republic of Dagestan.
