Siemens Gamesa announced in a statement that it has cancelled plans to build an offshore wind turbine blade manufacturing plant at the Port of Virginia's Portsmouth Marine Terminal in Portsmouth, Virginia, USA.

Siemens Gamesa stated that the Virginia facility will not be built because "development milestones... could not be met." More than 300 employment would have been generated by the company's projected plant. However, the cancelled plans will have no effect on the development of Dominion Energy's wind farm off the coast of Virginia Beach. Siemens Gamesa's European facilities will now provide the turbines and blades for Dominion Energy's CVOW.
