CWind Taiwan has announced that its offshore training centre, Taiwan International Windpower Training Corporation (TIWTC), has been accredited by Global Wind Organisation to deliver Basic Safety Training (BST) and Basic Technical Training (BTT).
With the involvement and support of UK-based CWind Training, an affiliated company of CWind Taiwan, and who acted as technical consultants for the design, construction and course development, TIWTC has built dedicated training facilities. These facilities include swimming pool and a mock-up training tower, as well as classroom and technical teaching facilities, in order to deliver realistic training scenarios in a safety-controlled area. TIWTC has been delivering BTT courses since December 2018. The full set of BST modules will commence in August including sea survival, working at height, manual handling, first aid and fire safety. As in other global offshore wind markets, Taiwan’s offshore wind sector requires that all personnel have GWO certifications prior to working offshore.
Fellow shareholders in TIWTC are Taiwan International Ports Corporation (TIPC), Taiwan Power Corporation (TPC), China Steel Corporation (CSC), China Ship Building Corporation (CSBC) and Swancor.
