The Australian Minister for Climate Change and Energy has announced that he is seeking public input on a potential new offshore wind declared area in the Pacific Ocean off the coast of Illawarra in New South Wales.
The proposed offshore wind zone is 1461 square kilometres and stretches from Wombarra to Kiama. The proposed offshore wind zone is 10 kilometres from the coast and has the ability to generate up to 4.2GW from offshore wind. The public feedback session will end on October 16, 2023.
