The Department of Energy of the Philippines (DOE) has announced the fifth round of the Green Energy Auction (GEA-5), exclusively dedicated to offshore wind projects. This auction is scheduled for the third quarter of 2025.

The GEA-5 aims to secure market access for offshore wind developers, ensuring long-term demand for their generation capacities. It will also provide a timeline guide for stakeholders, including the National Grid Corporation of the Philippines, Philippine Ports Authority, Department of Environment and Natural Resources, Philippine Coast Guard, and local government units. Additionally, the auction will advance the Philippines' energy transition objectives, helping to diversify the country's energy mix and reduce dependence on fossil fuels.

The DOE will soon release the Notice of Auction (NOA) and Terms of Reference (TOR), which will outline the timeline, procedures, and guidelines for GEA-5 participation. Currently, the Department is evaluating position papers from stakeholders to integrate valuable insights and ensure a transparent and effective auction process.
