The Bundesnetzagentur has published the results of its latest onshore wind and innovation auction, which closed for bids on 1 May 2025. The tender offered a total volume of 3,443MW, attracting 568 bids with a combined capacity of 4,972MW. Of these, 372 bids totalling 3,447MW were awarded contracts. Fifteen bids were disqualified from the process.
The pay-as-bid auction yielded prices ranging from 6.47 to 6.94 euro cents per kilowatt hour. The average volume-weighted award price fell to 6.83 euro cents per kilowatt hour, below the maximum allowed price of 7.35 euro cents per kilowatt hour.
The highest award volumes went to North Rhine-Westphalia (126 projects, 1,002MW), Lower Saxony (88 projects, 960MW), and Hesse (39 projects, 379MW).
The next onshore wind auction is scheduled to close on 1 August 2025.
