Germany's Federal Network Agency has published the results of its 1 May 2026 auctions for onshore wind and innovation projects, with both tenders significantly oversubscribed. The onshore wind auction offered 2,495 MW of capacity and attracted 628 bids totalling 6,409 MW. The agency awarded 270 projects with a combined capacity of 2,499 MW, while 13 bids were excluded from the process.
Successful bid prices ranged from 4.44 euro cents/kWh to 5.19 euro cents/kWh. The volume-weighted average award price fell to 5.06 euro cents/kWh from 5.54 euro cents/kWh in the previous auction. Since the August 2024 auction, the average award price has declined by more than 2 euro cents/kWh over seven consecutive auction rounds.
Lower Saxony secured the largest awarded capacity with 628 MW across 70 projects, followed by Brandenburg with 468 MW across 47 projects and North Rhine-Westphalia with 353 MW across 31 projects.
The innovation auction offered 475 MW and received 46 bids representing 749 MW. The Federal Network Agency awarded 27 projects with a combined capacity of 482 MW, while two bids were excluded.
All successful innovation projects combine solar photovoltaic generation with battery energy storage. Award prices ranged from 4.75 euro cents/kWh to 5.61 euro cents/kWh, with a volume-weighted average of 5.34 euro cents/kWh, broadly in line with the previous round's 5.31 euro cents/kWh.
Bavaria received the largest share of awarded innovation capacity with 287 MW across 15 projects. Schleswig-Holstein followed with 53 MW across two projects, while Brandenburg secured 51 MW across two projects.
