The New York State Energy Research and Development Authority (NYSERDA) has opened a new competitive solicitation for large-scale land-based renewable energy projects to support continued clean energy deployment and grid reliability.
The programme (RESRFP26-1) targets mature projects ready for construction, including solar, onshore wind and hydroelectric developments. It aims to secure renewable energy certificates from projects positioned to move forward, including those seeking to benefit from expiring federal tax incentives to reduce costs for ratepayers.
The solicitation incorporates updated procurement measures based on previous rounds, including requirements related to labour standards, community engagement, agricultural land use and investment in disadvantaged communities. Bid submissions will take place in two stages between May and July 2026, with conditional awards expected in September 2026.
The process is intended to accelerate project delivery and support continued growth of New York’s renewable energy pipeline, which includes 61 large-scale projects under development across solar, onshore wind, hydroelectric and offshore wind, with a combined expected capacity of over 9 GW.
