Ocean Winds, in cooperation with Innovate UK, has launched four challenges to enhance offshore wind farm efficiency. These challenges focus on three core areas: energy assessment and metocean, environmental impact, and fixed foundations.
The challenges are:
- Energy Assessment & Metocean: Improving measurements of temperature, humidity, and pressure in remote marine locations to better assess atmospheric stability.
- Fixed Foundations: Developing advanced methods for 3D ultra-high-resolution surveys of offshore wind sites early in development to improve data quality and interpretation, reducing uncertainty, risk, and costs.
- Environmental Impact:
- Enhancing monitoring of underwater environmental receptors and species tracking.
- Promoting nature inclusivity in floating wind farm designs to support biodiverse marine life.
