The German Federal Network Agency has announced the results of the tender for onshore wind turbines as of 1 August 2024. With a tendered amount of 2,709 MW, 239 bids totaling 2,961 MW were submitted.
This is the first time since February 2022 that the tender was oversubscribed. A total of 230 bids, amounting to 2,723 MW, were awarded contracts.
Prior to the bidding deadline, the Federal Network Agency had reduced the tender volume from 4.1 GW to 2.7 GW due to data indicating a potential undersubscription. The bid volume exceeded the reduced value because many bids with older permits were submitted compared to previous rounds. Projects that did not receive a contract this time can participate in the next round in November. The Federal Network Agency will decide on the tender volume for the next round by 18 October 2024, considering the available data.
The bid prices ranged from 5.73 cents/kWh to 7.35 cents/kWh. The average weighted awarded value was 7.33 cents/kWh, slightly below the maximum value of 7.35 cents/kWh.
The largest volume of awarded contracts was for sites in North Rhine-Westphalia (756 MW, 84 awards), followed by Brandenburg (385 MW, 23 awards), Schleswig-Holstein (285 MW, 24 awards), Hesse (246 MW, 8 awards), and Lower Saxony (237 MW, 24 awards). In the southern states, eight contracts (101 MW) were awarded to sites in Bavaria. No sites in Baden-Württemberg received contracts.
