The Renewable Energy Institute (Japan) has worked with European experts on two studies commissioned by the European Commission focusing on offshore wind: Technical Standards and Certification of Floating Offshore Wind (FOW) and Maritime Spatial Planning (MSP).
The studies examine Japan’s challenges in comparison with European experience and explore how the country could benefit from EU best practices. The FOW report highlights the need to review technical standards and align them with international regulations. The MSP report emphasises the importance of integrated spatial planning that considers multiple ocean uses.
The Renewable Energy Institute has also published an information brief in Japanese summarising key findings from both reports.
