Enercon is making its performance optimisation programme available for operators of wind farms equipped with E-138 EP3 E3 turbines. The Yield+ option can increase Annual Energy Production (AEP) by approximately 2%, depending on site conditions. The figure is based on an average wind speed of 7.0 m/s at hub height.
The additional energy is achieved through site-specific adjustments to the turbine control system. Increasing the rotor speed raises the nominal power output of the E-138 EP3 E3 from 4.26 MW to 4.5 MW.
No hardware modifications are required. The turbine's design lifetime of 25 years remains unchanged.
Before implementing the new operating mode, operators should assess factors including the available capacity at the point of common coupling and the potential effects of reduced reactive power provision on site operation.
Enercon plans to extend the Yield+ option to additional turbine types.
