On 28 August, a remotely operated vehicle (ROV) survey is scheduled to begin in federal waters in the southwest corner of SouthCoast Wind’s lease area, approximately 38 nautical miles south of Martha’s Vineyard. The survey aims to determine if the target area holds archaeological significance.

The survey, conducted by the vessel TM Diligence, is expected to last 1 to 2 days and will conclude by 30 September, pending weather delays. During the survey, the ROV vessel will be stationary, restricted in its ability to manoeuvre, and connected via an umbilical cord when deployed. The TM Diligence will be broadcasting on the Automatic Identification System (AIS) for the duration of the survey and monitoring Channel 16 VHF for any concerned traffic.

SouthCoast Wind is developing an offshore lease area off the coast of Massachusetts with the potential to generate over 2,400 MW of clean electricity.
