EDF Renewables North America has announced that Atlantic Shores Offshore Wind (Atlantic Shores), a 50-50 joint venture with Shell New Energies US (Shell), through its wholly owned subsidiary Atlantic Shores Offshore Wind Bight, was selected as a provisional winner of OCS-A-0541 in the New York Bight Auction.
The 79,351-acre lease area, awarded as part of an outer continental shelf renewable energy auction held by the Bureau of Ocean Energy Management (BOEM), has the potential to support approximately 1.5GW of wind generation. The BOEM auction allowed offshore wind developers to bid on six lease areas covering 480,000 acres.
