Enshore Subsea has been appointed to the subsea cable installation framework agreement of Scottish and Southern Electricity Networks Distribution, supporting a long-term investment programme in Scotland’s electricity distribution network.
The multi-year framework will support the renewal and reinforcement of subsea electricity links serving island communities in the north of Scotland. The programme forms part of wider efforts to decarbonise homes, businesses and local industry, while improving network resilience and providing additional capacity as demand increases with the uptake of low carbon technologies.
The investment programme will be delivered over the coming years, with projects allocated among framework partners according to specialist capability and available resources. The framework structure is intended to provide greater certainty of delivery, enable more efficient planning and strengthen supply chains for subsea works, while allowing multiple projects to be carried out within the limited seasonal weather windows available for offshore installation.
