SSE has completed installation of the final turbine at its 17.3 MW onshore wind project in Puglia, southern Italy, six months after construction began. The project covers the Castel Favorito and Masseria la Cattiva sites, where five Siemens Gamesa 132-3.4 MW turbines have been installed.
The work has been managed by SSE Renewables engineers together with teams from Siemens Gamesa and the main contractor, Italian company Idoka Construzioni.
At peak construction, about 70 jobs were supported. With turbine installation complete, commissioning and testing are now under way. The project, developed by Parco Eolico Tramontana, a subsidiary of SSE Renewables, is expected to start commercial operation in 2026.
