The first V117-4.2MW wind turbine from Vestas has been installed at Japan's Akita Noshiro offshore wind farm. The Akita Noshiro project will include 33 V117-4.2MW wind turbines.
Twenty wind turbines will be installed off the coast of Noshiro, and 13 off the coast of Akita, both in the northeast of Honshu, Japan's main island. The 140 MW offshore wind farm is being built by the Akita Offshore Wind Corporation. It will supply electricity to Tohoku Electric Power, which has a 20-year power purchase agreement for the wind farm's entire output. Commercial operation of the offshore wind farm is expected by the end of 2022.
